Those pico psu thingies can actually save a bunch of power in homeservers. Psus are super inefficient at really low load and atx stuff is usually at least 400w nowadays

I'd have to check out again, but iirc with 80+ gold psu it drew ~16w and with picopsu knockoff ~12

@snacks At low load, the efficiency of decent SMPS's doesn't really matter.

Pico-style PSUs only really have efficiency gains if you have a bunch of computers - rather than AC-DC conversion for each computer, you can have a single 12V supply, which is easy to also battery backup.
