@methyltheobromine @Tony @7666 @eris @allison @vriska @olmitch @nyx these fruits are evolved for tiny little new world primate hands to pick up and carry away but the nut itself (which is the seed of the tree) is noxious (like poison ivy) and the monkeys don't want to eat it and drop it on the forest floor

which is weird because the part we eat is the nut that's intentnionally made bitter and irritating to the skin and not the fruits (the fruits are really hard to transport)

the reason it doesn't make you break out is because cashews have been cooked and the urushiol is denatured by the heat
