@lucy@netzsphaere.xyz yeah my bad, white wheat flour. bleached and enriched, as basic as it gets. acquiring other types would bring likely me to the restaurant supply store. other grains are something I want to try, so I will go there

wheat, rye and often spelt are commonly available here in any grocery store and bread at bakeries is usually rye or blend.

@shibao @amelia I have tried sourdough, I did not favor the taste. As for beer bread, I’d be willing to try it so long as it’s non alcoholic

@arcana@fedi.layer02.net soda bread is delicious, it's made with baking soda. beer bread is nonalcoholic and the beer+butter lends it an incredible depth and richness. oil based bread is generally mid but can be fantastic with the right ingredients. sourdough creates a sort of yeast substitute with fermentation that gives it a beer-bread-adjacent depth, but less rich and more.... clean? unleavened bread is just flatbread, some have air bubbles some don't. I mean naan, tortillas, etc etc

@shibao@misskey.bubbletea.dev @arcana@fedi.layer02.net good beer bread is fucking heavenly. its crusty and crusty and rich with just enough chew to be satisfying and just enough of the malty+hoppy beer flavor to be super interesting without being weird. I'm a simp for beer bread it's the best. And it is non alcoholic

@amelia @shibao @arcana you can mix something like a pancake butter but instead of milk you add beer (perferably cloudy yeast-heavy type), peel and slice apples into ring and fry. it's so good
