@phnt ig why wayland gets lumped together with dbus at least, but barely anything wayland needs systemd and the stuff that does already did on x11

@snacks it doesn't need dbus for the most part, but everything now does because everybody has the portal fetish these days thanks to flatpak. Flatpak is really the sole reason why nothing works without dbus these days, because everything needs to be "sandboxed".

@phnt don't most wayland programs use dbus for ipc regardless of flatpack? I remember needing it for my first wayland setup with sone alpha version of sway

@snacks Yes, but that is also entirely unnecessary. Implementation issue rather than a protocol issue.
