If you're a legal resident or citizen of the Netherlands and you have been on a wait list for trans healthcare at the VUmc for more 4 years, please call the reception desk at the genderdysphorie kliniek and ask them to help you figure out what went wrong.
They accidentally dropped a fuck ton of people from the waiting list after the 4 year mark (this was automated), and then called all those people by phone in 2024 asking if they wanted to remain on the wait list still. If you replied yes, then they placed you at the end of the wait list, making you wait an additional few years. This was a mistake! If you didn't get a call, you may have been dropped entirely, also a mistake!
My partner had this happen to them and it took me physically bringing them to my endo appointment to ask what happened to them to correct it. (The endo was very frustrated on our behalf.) They told me to tell others to also call if they have been on the list longer than 4 years. The wait list for the initial psychologist appt is less than 5 years. If its been 6 years with no call, you need to call or go in person to talk with them.
I haven't seen anyone in the Nederland trans community talking about this, so please boost and feel free to repost in Dutch

@trans @transmasc I asked how many people were waiting for the endo appointment and they said there were about 5000. It took me 4.5 years to get my appointment, but it has been life changing. I know it sucks and takes a lot of spoons, but please call and verify when your first appointment is supposed to take place. The reception for the genderdysforie kliniek are very friendly and are queer themselves. They get it, even if they can only do their best, they are kind, so please remember that if you are frustrated
@emilyenco and @MxAlba politely tagging you both because trans and in the Netherlands. Could you please boost this? It could really help our community
@lucy@netzsphaere.xyz @scathach@stereophonic.space @trans@a.gup.pe @domo@pizza.enby.city I’ve heard of people doing diy orchi
It's always kind of wild to me that there is a waitlist for trans adults to receive care in any modern nation, the data from the US should prove pretty definitively that informed consent is objectively better for everyone. Not only for trans people, but for doctors who could then focus more on trans youth instead of maintaining these obstacles for adults.
There aren't many lessons the Netherlands could take from the US regarding healthcare, but IC is definitely one
@trans @transmasc this was not an invitation to brag that its better in your country or that you would DIY. This is required for surgery. I can't leave the country right now, afford this out of pocket, or perform my own surgery. Many trans people can't leave or afford out of pocket surgery. We know its better elsewhere. You can say it sucks and you sympathise, but telling me how quickly you moved forward your own care is just not helpful for my mental health.
Like, not right now. Please.

No wonder 41% never makes it, they have to wait at least 5 years to get ripped off by some random person who’s gonna play along with their delusions
That wait list should be at least 10 years, thou
