@lucy cheaper cameras (with cheaper technology). My guess, no source

@lucy they started storing media on tape not film, and the rise of home videos meant that more footage was being recorded on cheap consumer devices

@vivi @lucy which means that most existing recordings of TV stuff are home tape recordings

@vivi @lucy people back then were literally seeking that shit out, just watching people advertise ugly-ass dolls and jewelry and fake fitness gear they’ll never use, day in day out

@arcana @lucy that’s why Pink Floyd’s Pulse concert will never look as good as their Delicate Sound of Thunder concert.

@gray @lucy Live at Pompeii was my favourite. Impeccable sound and imagery.

Seeing The Wall live in 2013 was good as well though.

@lucy and massive amounts of DVD distribution afterwards, of 90s media. And then people stopped caring about it so they didn't get higher than DVD resolution releases. Like Picket Fences. Longest time the only releases there existed of it were DVD and SATRip, and VHS but thats too absurd. Obscure media, it got a Hulu remaster but I need to find it
