Interesting that Signal didn't write any blog post denouncing how Chat control passed after their initial Chat control v2 post that said "if this passes, we are dropping EU service" basically.

@phnt Majority of their users came from that part of the world, So either they implode the entire thing or just shut up. That seems to be what happened

@snacks Yes, it is voluntary. I just expected some words about how it passed in the most underhanded way possible from a messenger that brands itself as being privacy first.

@sun @snacks The current version that passed is almost the same as the exception that previously passed years ago. Barely anybody had an issue with that, because it didn't receive media coverage at all from what I remember.

The version that wants to kill e2ee is scheduled to be revived and discussed in September, which is the one Signal had the "we'll go away" remark with.
