How to fix enchanting in mc:
* make more shit incompatible, basically only sharpness/protection are compatible with mending
* only 2-3 enchantments max

Everyone has the exact same forever lasting gear rn except bows where most prefer infinity over mending and it's kinda boring ngl

Ig you could add more incompatibilities beyond that but mending especially sticks out imo

@snacks mending and unbreaking should be mutually exclusive

@coolbean ig it would nerf mending a bit more. If you want to make mending a really tough sell you'd make it incompatible with sharpness/protection/efficiency. But i don't want to make mending useless tbh, just have gear be nore personal and specialized

@snacks I actually think durability is a pretty annoying mechanic, in general. I'm fine with overpowered multitools, Minecraft's mostly a sandbox building game after all.

@snacks yea. i just think mending and unbreaking have different usecases and that for instance having an unbreaking pick for stripmining and a mending one for caving would be cool

also oh my fucking god fix anvils. make repairing at an anvil actually viable mending is basically your best option for repairs if you dont want to replace your stuff after like 3 repairs because the costs go up so much

@snacks Alternatively, make repairs not cost exponential XP. It's pretty much useless as it is.

Bonus points if you add enchantments that depend on durability like tic has

@chjara it just seems like a waate to have this modular mechanic that allows for personalization and then create a situation where everyone ends up with the exact same gear

@chjara the only exceptions are different kinds of protectiona nd damage but something like bane if the arthropods is way too specialized

@snacks It's hardly modular as it is. All achievements are a total positive over not having it, and they all (with minor exceptions no one uses) have non-overlapping effects. If there were more interesting tradeoffs, sure, or as you mentioned a limited number of them per piece of equipment.

@snacks But ultimately, there's a reason why mods like TiC are so popular, that lets you make god tools even easier than vanilla. Tools just are not the interesting bit of the game. Having a greater variety of weapons would be nice, (and I guess it is on the team's mind with the addition of maces and spears), but even then it works fine as it is for PvP and stuff.
