I'm gonna try to switch my cat to an auto feeder so she doesn't wake me up every morning angry at me

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs pray for me

@eris set it to go off right before she'd normally wake you up. And/or feed her very late!

@eris then you can gradually move the time later to train her to eat later in the morning.

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs the struggle is rn she's eating 3 wet cat food meals a day with a small amount of combo dry feeding, because this is what's worked for reducing her stress about meals

Hopefully it doesn't take too long to switch her back over to dry food without stressing her out. I got a water fountain too

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs @eris I feed our one dog at 2am before I go to sleep so that he won't wake up hungry and pace back and forth all night until we get up and feed him.

@mikemccaffrey @ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs I feed my cat super late too and she's already chewing stuff before I wake up haha. I'm gonna get her some cat grass to chew on :)

@eris @ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs just get a squirt bottle, and leave it next to the bed. they'll learn pretty quick not to wake you up if they get sprayed

@eris @mikemccaffrey get silvervine sticks to chew! And just use all the dry food for her automatic feeder and still do 2 or 3 canned food meals that you give her. Or hide the dry food around your home for her find like a nightime scavenger hunt. Just set it up before you go to bed. Nosework, like cats sniffing out food, makes them super content as long as it is extra and not a frantic rush to find because they are hungry.

@eris ot if you want to save $, when I can't afford canned food, sometimes my cats like when I add water to the dry so it gets all mushy

@dangerdyke @ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs my cat luckily eats dry food fine, it's just she overeats haha.

Which the auto feeder will help with 😊

@dangerdyke @eris sometimes if you change too much, they will wait and see what you offer next (making them pickier), but offering a variety tends to make them less picky overall.
It's walking on eggshells. Good luck out there!
