having been on fedi again for a few days I can say that this is kinda bad for you. fedi might be like the methadone of social media but it's still a narcotic. we should all strive to be clean and sober from social media because it's a fundamentally evil social software paradigm

we need federated software that is like an anonymous imageboard where the only thing you "follow" is like threads and boards (maybe something groups-esque for topics but then that'll be a bit too similar to r*ddit)

Perhaps there's a imageboard software out there with per thread RSS feeds. Hell could just use the RSS reader as a frontend and make replies via email or something.
