@milan Isn't those red spikes there enough to knock the service off-line waiting for IO to finish? Can't imagine much work is being done in terms of network IO/actual page generation while that's going on. It also doesn't look like something you could throw more memory at, looks like like it would just eat it all even if you made 64 GB available. I'm not familiar with that software so I don't know what causing it, but I can easily tell that I wouldn't want something like that running on my own servers.

@mono Person in the screenshot lacks imagination. You don't need a million people to sign up to get a million accounts, you can just inject that into the database. Not that it matters if it's 1 or 1000 or 1000000 users making follow requests if DDOS is the issue because it's NOT Distributed Denial Of Service anyway; it's just one server. Admins of other instances can see that hey, those 10000+ follow requests are coming from that IP (or at best /24 subnet) over there and -j DROP that shit.
