theres a more caitanya shit I could object to but I'll just leave it at this page. theres a lot of beauty in this sect but a lot I dont like, too.

smh guys God doesnt need ignorance to love infinitely and he isnt "controlled by" love for his bhaktas, he is the Lord of Love (among other qualities of saguna brahman). the whole element of the bhagavata purana where God describes himself as controlled like a puppet by his bhaktas is not literal sure, and maybe I dont understand divine love (I dont), but it bothers me. maybe God is just humble beyond my understanding.

even though jnana is the main marga of advaita vedanta, bhakti is still part of monism and possible in it smh. just look at smartism and kashmir shaivism.

okay i like this subversion of the puranas typical sexism. for context: the brahmana men wouldnt give krishna and balarama any food, being materialistic and seeing them as mortals.

speaking of shitty curses, in this one story I was excited to see an unrighteous cursing brahmana see his end but of course he is forgiven in large part because hes a freakin brahmana! oh well.

its not just a king vs commoner thing either. sacrifices are frequently denigrated like all vedic ritualism that seeks selfish material boons, and as such it is contrasted with pure bhkati. and its not infrequently especially so denigrated because of its violence. but here its promoted. I'm sure commentators would say its different because he offered up all the fruits of his actions to krishna instead of desiring selfish reward. but still.

lotta contradictions in this purana. sometimes sacrifices are considered excessive and violent, other times theyre celebrated. I doubt any of those horse killers in the past were reincarnated as Indra.

again with the moksha trap this is foolishness ... a liberated soul can only get closer to God not farther

many particular afterlives to suit the preferences and merits of souls only makes sense among the (fully, if this qualifier need be said because as far as know there is no partial liberation) liberated if you 1. are not a universalist, believing in eternal lesser states according to some merit 2. believe "individual" atman are essentially different from one another, carrying this difference even when theyve realized themselves or 3. believe that God is unfair (as this book states earlier, these outcomes are not considered equal, all are free of suffering but not all are equally blissful)

why not just kaishmir shaivi mode and say "all merge wholly into brahman in the end"?? it resolves so many problems!
