lit under pianos in the sky
fall atop the bird cage where
mom collapses on top of a
broken wine bottle—
a puddle of dreams
and my carefree reflection.
i don't mind the
gunshots anymore,
not after the film i made
of my daughter counting thunder
under plastic stars,
an unwritten moon,
the invisible canary dropping her weight
into the empty space
between each second.
let me behind the curtain please
don't make me wait again
i've waited long enough
for the crash
