most hindus who try western spiritual outreach along with many new age types who take after Indian religions consider Jesus to be like the buddha, a great ("ascended") master but not a full-fledged avatara like Krishna. to them I ask, why did Jesus choose to suffer on the cross if he was just a great yogi, alike in pain and pleasure and capable of withdrawing the senses like a turtle its limbs? his suffering must have had a greater purpose, like the establishment of religion which is a primary purpose of an avatara.

I could never accept papal infallibility if I were a church that wanted communion with the catholic church. supremacy sure but not infallibility. popes aren't prophets or yogis after all.
