@FiringSquadsEnjoyer @salt I read it as an adult while influenced by ahimsa ethics and lapsed-vegan pescatarianism, not sure how I'd feel as a kid. maybe I'd think it was cool too. however the first time I saw a bloody life sized crucifix it really scared me, I had no idea what is was or how it could be religious. I was like 5 though and knew absolutely nothing about christianity.
