@demha @lizzie @ikeWren I dont see what's wrong in revering multiple scriptures and multiple incarnations of God. hinduism itself is highly conducive to syncretism, it itself is syncretic and diverse if you knew its history. theres room for me in it.

honestly I find all the "cruelly or capriciously cursed by a sage or a deva" stories highly dubious. oh, you were acidentally disturbed from your meditation? so you curse somebody? youre a yogi, free from enmity, with love towards all beings, you dont curse them with the power you obtained from yoga. stories about Gods cursing people for innocuous things are common too. its the same as all the stories of the devas acting in foolishly human ways, which comprise an unfortunate amount of stories about them. they are often prideful, angry, and lustful in a way they shouldnt be or should fall in their next life on account of. do I believe the vedas are divine? yes, especially the principal upanishads, but the puranas? much less so, though they excel where they vedantically praise the absolute and teach bhakti. so basically... stick to the three sources (prasthanatrayi). there are many sources on Truth (about and glorifying God), but few sources of/by Truth.

@triodug big agree my dog was briefly on prozac thanks to parents but she settled a lot with age. her main problem was barking of course. honestly SSRIs are only really good for making people complacent with their shitty life. your dog shouldnt have a shitty life.

this will be controversial but ive decided that avocado is overrated in the west unless you get really lucky. I find most avocadoes during most of the year have somewhat of a dirty taste. I got one in my salad and it looked like a nearly perfect avocado (most avocadoes are not perfect) but it kind of ruined the whole thing.

I love yoga as a discipline of becoming pure and holy and eventually unifying with God but yoga as a philosophy doesnt appeal to me much beyond the science of raja yoga because its based on samkhya which kind of loses me in its form of dualism, its treatment of prakriti as unconscious, and it downplaying God or even being classically atheistic. honestly I'm not a fan of tattvic/abhidharmic systems either. I dont like assigning fundamental categories to reality when everything is consciousness and behaves/appears the way God wills it. lowkey I feel like the muslims who thought the science of chemistry was haram.

@feld I mean I often feed my dog things I wouldnt eat myself but thats just because I'm full or didnt like it, theyre all things that are human-edible.
