अहं ब्रह्मास्मि त्वं ब्रह्म असि अयम् आत्मा ब्रह्म सर्वं खल्विदं ब्रह्म
knowing about chidabhasa theory might've changed today's effortpost just a bit. it doesn't explain the justice of karma but it does relate to the individuality of equivalent souls.

if you read the rest of the article and even the rest of the section the last paragraph is quite jarring to say the least. (note: my mom once said she feared me joining "the hare krishnas")

trika shaivism reminds me of kaballah here "Self-Experience of Lord Siva is the primary metaphysical basis of all human experiences, especially those that explain the 'ontological categories such as causality, time and action'."

i like kashmir shaivism a lot. however, i have some disagreements. trikas view consciousness (Parabhairava) as incredibly active and dynamic, in contrast with the kevaladvaita vedantins who view it (nirguna brahman) as passive and static. while i view God as "living", and the world as a play of consciousness, i also view consciousness as perfectly at rest.

"it moves--yet it moves not. its far away, yet its near at hand. its within this whole world--yet its also outside this whole world." (isha upanishad) this is my view of pure consciousness. God in His transcendent aspect thinks/knows everything all at once forever (and He doesn't merely know, He is knowledge itself, non-dual knower-knowledge-known). while ever at rest and unchanging, He may vibrate to produce the universe of changes. this is my position. its very tantric i believe. but i dont actually know that much about kashmir shaivism yet, they could have a similar view.

i see viewing the world as real even though it pales in comparison to the imperishable as more naturally allowing one to see divinity in everything (like a proper tantric) than when seeing it as an illusion. honestly i associate viewing the world as an illusion with my own mental illness, and its what i used to believe.

i agree that an effect isnt inherent in its cause. no causal relation should be taken for granted, everything is a play of pure consciousness occurring due to divine will.

anyway, reading sankaras bhashya on the vedanta sutras, he does say that existence comes from existence, aka sat comes from sat, aka truth from truth. i could be stretching the wording, of course what he meant was to refute creation from nothing. anyway he also says Brahman has characteristics, otherwise it could not be contemplated, which seems to controvert his belief in nirguna brahman, but actually does not. imo nirguna brahman is nirguna because it is ineffable, indiscrete, and contains everything as the Truth (so there is nothing that is not like it in the higher sense), thus transcending consideration of quality. but nirguna brahman still can be described through mere discrete words as pure, infinite, partless, non-dual, existence, consciousness, bliss.

@jeru i mean if you look at the linked post, i do believe dreams are real, they are just transient and not-universal.

"The Pratyabhijna philosophy of Somananda refutes the Arambhvada (the 'Realistic view' of the Nyaya-Vaisesika), the Parinamavada (the theory of Transformation of the Sankhya-Yoga) and the Vivartavada (the theory of Manifestation of the Advaita), by postulating the theory of Svatantryavada (the 'Universal voluntarism') which states that it is due to the sovereignty of God’s Will that Effect evolves from Cause."

ANOTHER FUCKING W FOR KASHMIR SHAIVISM

"In his philosophy of pure non-dualism (Shuddhadvaita), Vallabhacharya also does not support 'vivartavada' and propounds that Maya (or the 'Jagat') is real and is only a power of Brahman who himself manifests, of his own will, as Jiva and the world[10] and there is no transformation of Brahman in doing so, just as a gold ornament still remains gold only. Shuddhadvaita is also therefore known as ‘Avikṛta Pariṇāmavāda’ (Unmodified transformation)."

so true!!!

mind blown tbh. i thought the universe being unreal was sankaras position. i knew that the vaisnavas and the tantrics believe it to be real. this is of course not to be confused with maya theory. many schools that believe the universe is real also believe in maya.

here's my position in brief: https://netzsphaere.xyz/objects/a79a79ab-c9e8-4387-860a-5807efa26063
