@meso @dagda i dont like using this word but thats an extremely npc take. im not talking empty masturbatory mysticism like alchemy or gnosticism but about yoga, the summum bonum of human existence. if its a waste of time for you youre doing it wrong. its not a framework, its the science of consciousness. and ignoring yoga is ignoring your self (atman). focusing on "improving your life" at the expense of spiritual wellbeing is the essence of our godless yuga

imo knowing what constitutes divine revelation and knowing well the language it is written in is much more important to understanding revelation than knowing the indigenous traditions of how it is interpreted, although all are important

i dont think any religions attribute words to a famous sagely and/or saintly figure with texts so much later than who purportedly spoke them while being generally accepted as the dharmic religions, particularly hinduism and buddhism. sorry for that poorly constructed sentence. in christianity such is just called apocrypha, or mormonism.
