@unmind i feel like the classical description of schizophrenia is a fragmenting/splitting of the mind so i assumed it would be opposed to monism with its tendency for categories and hierarchies and things. but idk im a fake schizo so what would i know. have you heard about interpenetration in the buddhist sense? indras net? i wonder if that naturally appeals to you.

i feel like psychedelic spirituality when its not schizo is naturally monist, re sentiments like "everything is connected"

@FagMode59er thats really cool. hare krishna was fairly popular among hippies for a time and as it is is the iskcon version of the text. i can definitely see the bhagavad gita being used to help someone cope with being in an unjust war they have no control over being in.

@FagMode59er although one can perform karma yoga or the sacrifice of knowledge in any circumstances with equanimity though, that might be what that person meant

@FagMode59er thats such a fucked up thing to say. apocalypse now is about an unrighteous war, the kurukshetra war is righteous. i recommend the easwaran translation for beginners to hindu concepts who want a beautiful translation, or the gita press translation for a more literal translation. its worth reading, it can quite literally change your life.

@annamaria also their most beloved scripture is the bhagavata purana which i have found some major faults in

@annamaria i shouldnt criticize any sincere bhakta but theres misogyny and casteism in some of their publications and theyve had some controversies over treatment of women among them. there are some ahimsa dairy farms and cow refuges associated with hare krishna and im dubious of some of the farms but i like the refuges. (i know this from when i was vegan) in general they are gaudiya vaishnavas, im a vaishnava but im a monist. as represented in the US their goal of making the hippy generation genuinely spiritual wasnt exactly a success and now theyre met with scorn, which is probably partly warranted and partly unwarranted. so tl;dr, im no one to judge but i would recommend seekers go elsewhere.

do not read bhagavad gita as it is btw. read a different translation like from gita press or bhagavad gita a new translation or even easwarans book. bhagavad gita as it is is incredibly biased and washes away the vedantic roots of the text in favor for bahagavatism (of the bhagavata purana)
