I find the shia concept of the imam much more amenable than the sunni caliph (even rightly guided) but the sunnis practice sufism more than the shia do in my understanding

speaking of blood jesus doesnt save by some magical property blood has to save lest humans attempt to have their sins expiated by shedding their own blood or heaven forbid the blood of another being. imo he saves by the willingness of God to be gracious onto those who understand their own predicament and Gods unique position to deliver them by suffering in their stead.

I really wish we knew more about john the baptist and what he taught because he was clearly very popular but his cult was entirely subsumed and supplanted by christianity for good and for ill
