being jewish is so uncool now that white people proudly call themselves goy (word ive never heard a jew say btw) while also calling eachother the n word instead of cracker or something because being black is cool even though they hate black people as much as they hate jews. and people will just blame israel when this culture leads to jewish kids being bullied, as if antisemites didnt always have an excuse based on jews own behavior for their hatred.

I love searching an adjective or epithet of many hindu gods into a search engine and seeing which god it decides it refers to. theres usually a pretty unanimous result

gotta learn modern standard hindi with a good helping of urdu slang for the communication with north indians and understanding of most modern hindu literature.
absolutely gotta learn classical and epic sanskrit for the devotional literature and esoteric knowledge. might learn vedic sanskrit one day, but right now that old stuff doesnt interest me. its cool for the PIE understanding though.
gotta learn middle and to a lesser extent modern tamil, middle for the devotional literature, modern for the communication with very south indians.
i also wanna learn telugu, which enjoyed a cultural prestige in the south during its early modern phase, and is still the most spoken dravidian language. im super interested in the apparent euphonicism and in understanding Carnatic south indian music, which is written in telugu or sanskrit apparently. I also like how if I did this hindi, telugu and tamil would form a continuous landmass of my understanding.
lastly, I'd like to learn modern bengali because its another indo-aryan language with many speakers, and using my knowledge of it I could talk to my step brothers wife's family. it would also be neat to speak to indians, pakistanis (with my hindustani) AND bengalis.
as a bonus, and this is a reach, kashmiri. not because its the language of kashmiri shaivism, but because its the language of modern kashmiri shaivis and also kashmiri muslims. maybe I can solve the rift who knows. :P

I think you guys are gonna like my praise-song/hymn/prayer thing. its not perfect but itll be pretty great when I'm done. I need to find someone who is well versed in hindu scripture to make me a sanskrit version. its roughly made with an eventual nod to conversion into sanskrit, that is to say pretty much all of its concepts and important phrasemes as far as I know exist within hindu literature.

I wish I spoke hindi or Tamil or literally any indian language. would make finding inspiration for writing my hymn much easier. if I knew sanskrit it would be too easy.

> The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist, a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain."

let's be real. hindus today believe in Ishvara or at least in their personal Bhagavan, even while many often worship several or more devas. and yet wikipedia talks about "hindu atheism" (often with sources from the 19th century) as if there is a significant cohort of hindus who believe in the eternal authorless nature of the vedas (who the fuck cares about the vedas anymore except the upanishads cmon) who dont believe in God. perhaps part of this misconception is the tyranny of christianity which says that if you believe in a predominantly impersonal God you dont believe in God. but I think its mostly just ignorance which leads people to talk about hindu atheism today, as if theres some huge cohort of mimamsakans or classical samkhyans that nobody talks about.

It's a shame that so many people confuse what Catholicism and Christianity actually teaches with either their own scrupulosity and what they have been taught by simply being dragged into Church and the example that has been shown to them by others. The idea that God is an angry God who's just itching at the chance to blow up on you and throw you into hell. The God who you have to appease by doing all the devotionals perfectly or they aren't going to "count". The God who throws babies into hell or limbo because they happened to not be baptized. When the God of Christianity in reality is the God who is constantly reaching out in love to us to pull us into union with all things good. The God who loves each one of the hairs on our head and the one who knew us before we were formed in the womb. The humble God who came as a poor man from the worst part of Israel to show us sacrificial love instead of a military leader from Jerusalem who won wars against the gentiles and established a powerful kingdom.

Non Christians: "I follow the teachings of Jesus better then any of those hypocritical Christians! The teachings of Jesus are radical!"

Those same people when the teachings of Jesus actually start to get radical and demand radical love for the people they don't like: "uhh well uhh you know it's actually nuanced and uh what about mixed fabrics and uh shellfish!"

if I ever have the chance to eat real wagyu I'd probably eat it tbh. I'd say a prayer to Govinda first of course.
