I post silly cats sometimes
ive spoken before about my belief about hells, here's my belief on the heaven realms:
-there are some low heavens which are purely places of enjoyment without much sinning where good karma is exhausted. people are born with good inclinations, but not much more knowledge than on earth planes. they largely neglect yoga because they are distracted by sense indulgence and because they have no desire to stop suffering because they suffer little. when hindu texts say that its preferable to be born on earth than in heaven, they are referring to such.
-in higher heavens then these its common for at least some memories from past lives to be kept, starting with heavens like pitr-lokas where virtuous people are reuinited with past virtuous loved ones and virtuous relatives. they benefit from prayers for ancestors but are NOT dependent on them.
-there are some high heavens which are places of wisdom and virtue, pure lands home to sages and embodied buddhas. many celestial beings reside in such places and supernatural powers are very common.
-the very highest heavens are transcendent places where the greatest devas reside, where no one has a form (arupa heavens) and where the holy luminous presence of God is apparent to all. absolutely none return to lower planes, all are liberated and thus merge into Brahman by merely being born there and spending time there. the greatest saints are reborn here. and this is the nature of vaikuntha/the kingdom of heaven.

the avadhuta gitas form of jnana yoga so far really feels to me like "gaslight yourself into believing youre free into freedom", which is actually correct and based, though prema-bhakti is more beautiful

need to read more shaktadvaitavada and kashmir shaivist stuff to wash out the whole "everything created by maya is unreal" of this gita though

I dont consider the body to be impure like so many sannyasins tbh. its a temple. that being said, its one of the greatest distractions from God.

basically, sage durvasa? not a fan. he curses more than he blesses. its not befitting of the real Shiva, who is the munificent Supreme Lord, although the puranic Shiva readily curses and readily bestows boons.

honestly I find all the "cruelly or capriciously cursed by a sage or a deva" stories highly dubious. oh, you were acidentally disturbed from your meditation? so you curse somebody? youre a yogi, free from enmity, with love towards all beings, you dont curse them with the power you obtained from yoga. stories about Gods cursing people for innocuous things are common too. its the same as all the stories of the devas acting in foolishly human ways, which comprise an unfortunate amount of stories about them. they are often prideful, angry, and lustful in a way they shouldnt be or should fall in their next life on account of. do I believe the vedas are divine? yes, especially the principal upanishads, but the puranas? much less so, though they excel where they vedantically praise the absolute and teach bhakti. so basically... stick to the three sources (prasthanatrayi). there are many sources on Truth (about and glorifying God), but few sources of/by Truth.
