Because someone else did it and it seemed like a good excuse to start a fediverse trend.

Briefly gave Mastodon a try after finding out about Tusky through the Google Play Store, abandoned this instance shortly after.

Wanted to give Mastodon another try so I signed up to this instance and became hooked, instance died a few months after I signed up.

First instance I ever had to migrate to, it was started by a few community members of the previous instance. I spent about a year there and then moved to another server.

Times changed and I became a little edgier. I gave asbestos a try because I thought meso was a cool dude, I liked Akkoma and the community asbestos was fostering. I moved there shortly after making an account.

I started my own single user Pleroma instance and moved to that for a month. It taught me a little about how to administer Pleroma, it’s a very brief footnote in my fediverse history.

My original instance died after I stopped being able to log into pwnage’s VPS, I had this little alt on asbestos which I originally intended to use for a markov bot but instead I used it as a main for a few days after pwnage died. Didn’t like that so I needed to replace that account. I signed up to FSE and that ended up becoming my main for a minute. That was kind of fun.

Probably the greatest instance I ever signed up to. Waifu posted that he would make accounts for it upon request so I asked him for an account and I got one so I started using waifuism as a second main instance shortly thereafter. Good times were had for a few months. I still miss the original waifuism dearly.

I started wanting to host an instance again so I made zone.nyanide.com as a little single user instance, and then I realized my postgres was probably opened to the world so after 40 minutes I killed that server. I was posting about that on FSE and.. I believe I brought up the desire to host an open registration instance because I thought being able to offer something like that would be really cool. People showed interest in that idea so a day after zone died I started this new instance. It got attention pretty fast and was decently popular for a while. It stayed up for a few years until I shut it down.

After the death of the previous instance I needed another instance to move to. I happened to be hosting this instance at the same time the other one died so I just moved to it. You can read about why it shut down on my pinned post about it.

This is where I am now. Comfy server, moved to it after shutting off FRE. I plan to stay here for a little while.
