the book said "you cant track every drop of glue and nail that goes into a project" and thats bullshit ok thats not a good enough answer for me

it is not cost effective to track the indirect materials. you will pay your accountant more in the time it takes them to track it than the amount of money you spent on the materials.

ok i understand why nails and glue are indirect materials and don't need to be tracked for job ordering costing despite them being 1. measurable 2. already tracked to an extend for the sake of doing the job and resupplying materials


i had to do a full on mock tracking and costing to realize... it's not worth it. it's too insignificant in most cases.
there are, of course, cases where glue etc. can and should be a direct material.

it really pisses me off when i mix up what should be a debit and what should be a credit.
i did so poorly on my financial accounting exam that introduced the main financial accounting concepts because i couldn't consistently determine which accounts were meant to be debited or credited.
yes yes debits on the left credits on the right debits left credits right, i know the song. the T chart is easy.
there's an account for fucking everything. the naming of the accounts can get weird. there's temp accounts.
anyway, the accounting in this class is different than the financial accounting class. its uhh its like manufacturing accounting? most stuff goes into a temp account. im doing much better with knowing what needs to be debited/credited to close out temp accounts and move money where it needs to be. hopefully im finally grasping whatever i wasn't grasping before?? we'll see when i take Financial Accounting II. I think I was overthinking it before.
so far i really like manufacturing accounting tho. the accounts move through the factory with the product. its cool.

my courses this year have been a lot more dense, i have to actually think and read through the majority of the content. i dont want to say they're hard. the tail end of my stats class was hard. nothing has been been "hard" to learn yet. everything i've run into that i haven't understood was usually me misunderstanding how something worked or "understanding" how it worked based on patterns i found that actually meant nothing and were just coincidences. re-read text or other resources if it's too vague and i'm good.
i think not having any uninterrupted study time is what's hurting me the most. i used to have more time when i worked from home.
