@steph what's wrong with magisk?

@steph boot the patched recovery? i've only needed to flash magisk once. after updates you have to flash it again, sure, but there's a module that can do that automatically. magisk is pretty great imo. maybe you don't care about patching safetynet but not but its modules rival (and have superseded) xposed at this point

@steph so it just has boot.img and no ramdisk? weird. so what, you would boot a patched image with fastboot? the image patcher always gave me boot loops, i can only flash it with twrp

@steph i used supersu implemented through addonsu for years and magisk has finer control over root privileges. there's even a biometric unlock option. what are you using root for, backup?
a lot of useful things require or are greatly augmented by it.

@steph i'm aware of that, they never released the addon for 17
they assume everyone just uses magisk now
my advice is try it. there are probably modules you'd like too :)
there's even a core function mode in the magisk manager which makes it basically supersu but hidden
