@negi @eris palestineshit loses when it appeals to history. palestine was also an imperialist creation and most arabs in israel are there because of a form of imperialism. but people want to make it into a simple good vs evil like western colonialism. it will never be simply because the jewish people are indigenous to israel. that being said, the israeli government of current era is monstrous. blobcatgooglyshrug

@negi @eris people hate nuance and it's a nuanced conflict. not in the both sides lame way where you talk about geopolitics but in a deeper question of human belonging, ethnogenesis, indigeneity vs longstanding presence, etc etc

the patriarchal religionshit just makes me want to say no one can play with these toys, honestly. it's a huge honor thing. this recent conflict started because of wounded pride.

@Eris @eris @negi you know the israelites are a canaanite ethnic group right? hebrew is a canaanite language closely related to phonecian. it used the same alphabet. even jews today are closer related to lebanese than they are to palestinians, so by the "who is the most canaanite" argument lebanese get the land lmao

@Eris @eris @negi the bible isn't 100% accurate historiographically lmao. there was no israelite conquest of canaan. israelites are a canaanite group that became monolatristic

@Eris @negi @eris dude there is literally no evidence of the joshuan wars. they exist to explain late bronze age collapse destruction

@eris @negi i fucking hate what israel has become since the US decided to sponsor them as an anticommie proxy in the region. they started as an underdog but it's a long way from there. that's what hubris and the bitterness of failed negotiations does.

@Xalef @eris @negi all i know is *wrong stuff* the english fought the mandate every step of the way. have you heard of the white paper? jews were based as fuck then, got killed for blowing up british imperial offices, it was pretty badass.

@negi @Xalef @eris this is also true, arabs didn't want independence under the turks. palestinian nationalism was very reactionary.

@eris @negi it's certainly not a current victim. the status quo benefits only israel. (but isn't great for everyone)

@Xalef @eris @negi because it's way more complicated than you've read.

@Xalef @negi @eris god man you are so ignorant about this. israel lost a tenth of its population, including freaking holocaust survivors, in its war of independence.

@Eris @negi @Xalef @eris good job demonstrating the convergence of classical antisemitism and antizionism
