@nyx i don't think there's a correlation between prenatal hormones and gender when you control for sexual orientation but there is a correlation between autism and high amounts of testosterone resulting in high amounts of estrogen byproducts (or vise versa i forget)

@djsumdog @duponin @neikocat yes and no, it would be hard to suicide still, so they'd get deliberately intoxicated to overcome the instinct

@coin i have a masculine digit ratio on one hand and i'm left handed which iirc is testosterone related.

@Alex yes. autism is testosterone linked and so is gynephilia (attraction to women)

@coin higher prenatal uterine testosterone from maternal PCOS doesn't affect anything that i know of except brain and the digit ratio, endogenous testosterone as in dyadic males and certain intersex females (who either have very weird ovaries that produce excess testosterone in the womb or have weird adrenal glands or other fuckery) masculinizes the genitals, while testicular antimullerian hormone is the reason males don't develop wombs and a cervix and develop wolfian organs (prostate and idk other stuff) instead. all of the other physical changes between the sexes happen at puberty and PCOS kicks in art puberty so since my PCOS is very mild and was controlled early there's no reason i'd look masculine unless it was genetic. my mom has similarly mild PCOS but hers was controlled later and the only difference between us PCOS wise is she got some hair on her chin whereas i just had a fourteen year old boy mustache for a year while i was unmedicated. oh oddly enough recent studies have shown PCOS is linked to high antimullerian hormone in the womb. in some PCOS cases this fucks up the womb enough to make women infertile but for my mom she just needed fertility treatment. this is cause you treat PCOS with hormonal birth control. iirc what the fertility treatment does is make you release eggs that would have formed cysts (hence the name PCOS).

@Alex for sure! also the link between autism and transexuality only exists in gynephilic trans women, but it exists in trans men regardless of sexual orientation. actually androphilic trans women are much less likely than average to be autistic, even less likely than gay men who are unlikely to be autistic.

@coin i don't have endometriosis and i've never worried about it in my life even for a second. my risk is i think less than average????? (<<<factcheck needed) cause i'm on birth control. i dunno. i do remember what it was like to get cysts though. shit hurt like a motherfucker. my crush taught me to to like hang upside down with my feet against a wall for it (that's a period cramps thing) and that seemed to work.

@cryborg @Alex there's no such thing as metaphysical gayness. if you're going to invoke metaphysics then separateness is an illusion and you're harming your spiritual development by clinging to material mundanities as part of your self

@cryborg @taylan @Alex the fraternal birth order effect has been observed in cultures all over the world and with separated twin controls. my response to numerous studies supporting the importance of hormones in prenatal development to sexual orientation is "wow how cool, being gay is an integral quirk of nature." science shouldn't be ignored because people with evil value judgements use them for evil.

@cryborg @Alex the whole reason you are so upset is because it is offensive to your ego. don't put that on me, i came out at eleven and consider the science cool because while being gay has influenced me existentially i don't essentialize it. if you believe in reincarnation, do you believe you've been like this in all your lives? if not, how is it a metaphysical thing.

@cryborg @Alex forreal tho if i thought research on this stuff would or even feasibly could be used for eugenics i would feel concerned, like i did for the neural net that claimed to identify gay people by their pictures. i just don't think that will happen. the buddhist evangelism is partly ironic but not totally.
