if a husband told a wife he thought about her friend during sex she'd be appalled but women seem to be okay with regularly watching porn and some even try to emulate it??? t's just wild to me. the women in porn aren't seen as people but as objects in media. it's all considered as real as a movie or a videogame when it is actually happening to women. it is just so strange to me... if you love someone why do you need to think about other people while you masturbate. what the fuck

@why "imagination weakens with age" is a really dubious excuse. porn use is primarily among relatively young men, and young women don't seem to have as much of a problem with imagination like young men do. i knew "unobtainable" would be an excuse but why is it necessary to watch unobtainable people having sex?? its not normal. its technologically facilitated voyuerism.

@triodug @why i acknowledged that dehumanization in my post. i just don't understand why it's necessary at all, its strongly correlated with divorce.

@triodug @why the analogy is weak. communication is communication, it doesn't need to be intimate. watching pornography isn't sex, which is.

@triodug @why it is also causatively correlated with divorce. its cited as a reason for many divorces.

@triodug @why that particularly is what isn't natural. the so complete stripping of humanity from sex is in itself perverse. i'm not saying porn is marital infidelity. i'm lamenting that its so normalized as such to not be considered a problem or indication of a problem, to be in a relationship and watch other people having sex. it's consternating to me that we make other people into consumables even while we ourselves are on basketweaving forums. those women might as well be any woman and increasingly so, they are. the lines bleed together. is onlyfans cheating? do you need to simp for it to be?

@triodug @why disingenuous simplification, porn watching shouldn't stop because of divorce lol. i'm saying it shouldn't be considered as normal for people in relationships and that the fact that it is is indicative of a societal disease. it should stop because it fuels a highly inhuman and exploitative industry and because its use is associated with decreased empathy for sexual violence against all women.

@triodug @why humans didn't "invent sex beginning with intimacy," that doesn't even make sense. if you want to appeal to monkey, sex produces the same bonding chemicals as childbirth. you may as well say progenitor-offspring isn't inherently intimate, and sure, maybe not? maybe its all just business? then what does intimacy mean? why use words? humans as a prosocial and pair bond inclined species determined in every human culture in the world that i know of that sex is intimate. regardless of natural teleology wrt sex, from a practical standpoint humanity benefits when we treat people like people and not objects to consume. the appeal to "that's just modernity for you, other bad things happen" is just as hollow as then why do you live in society. i'm told "you're just autistic which is why you don't understand" when its not a matter of understanding but of not accepting as a given what others do and not agreeing that cognitive-dissonant parasexual simulacra are self evidently congruous with human society.
"you can say that you don't want your partner to" why are you telling me what i can say. it's the internet. i'm not going to confiscate your laptop. men get so defensive about their porn usage, like clockwork. rarely do i see the truth which is "yeah its kinda shitty but i like it too much to care". which is a fine thing to say.

@roboneko @triodug @why fiction is just someone elses imagination. its not watching an act performed by real people. you don't see a difference because you have so completely rendered women into semiotic objects

@shmibs @triodug @why not really sure what you're saying. i don't see pornography as sexual expression any more than watching food network is cooking. people say they'd hate the appalling stuff in real life, so what is there to explore. it's bourgeoise and self indulgent and i really don't care about shame from it. i think its unfortunate that anti-porn sentiment is associated popularly with the religious right but its a natural result of the popularity of hugh hefner faux-progressive neoliberal "sex-positivity". (brilliant language engineering because porn isn't sex)

@Moon @roboneko @triodug @why i mean when you're watching porn you're watching people have sex even if the names and context are fake

@triodug @roboneko look at the context again, he intended that example to be cheating but i'd say both are.

@triodug @why OP was just a subjective take that i think its weird that porn usage in serious relationships is normal. you said here's why, i said yeah but that's bad. "i'm not defensive you're defensive" i mean its my post... i'm defending my post. you went into the thread to talk about porn. not saying that's bad but its different. i stopped going in other peoples threads for takes fedi is hostile to ages ago tbh. let the chamber echo lol

@Eris all my threads about porn turn out that way lol

what is always kind of disillusioning is how fiercely addicts defend it. porn users are like alcoholics in that regard lol

@Moon @Eris its the same thing tbh, they were once addicts and need to defend their sobriety.

@roboneko @triodug @why i genuinely think you're stupid and that whatever i say will be handwaived because you enjoy porn. there are many problems unique to pornography that aren't seen in other media or other "jobs". https://truthaboutporn.org/study/

@roboneko @taylan @triodug @why stunt work lmao. the producers of movies don't want stunt people to get hurt. people who do stunts have honed skills, if they get hurt something is wrong, they made a mistake. pornographers want women to get fucked in ways that will excite an increasingly desensitized and degenerate audience. its not a mistake, the only relevant skill is to tolerate punishment, because pornographers actively push boundaries, not infrequently changing what's in a scene to something more violent. get over yourself. people who do stunts don't have PTSD symptoms at a rate comparable to veterans. they don't become drug addicts to cope. you really don't care. rape and abuse are collateral damage to you because you literally have porn induced brain damage.

@taylan @roboneko @triodug @why the comparison of a naturally dangerous activity like doing stunts to sex is pretty fucked up. of course, more women in porn get hurt, because it's a feature not a bug.
