@alex do you consume root vegetables??? by far more insects are killed in their harvesting than by honey harvesting

@alex you could eat foods that contribute to insect death less and choose not to because of an imaginary distinction between taking away honey (which bees need to survive, and taking it away usually doesn't kill any bees because they have excess) and root vegetables (which insects survive in, and taking it away often does kill them)

i'll be stopping eating oysters because despite them being no more sentient than plants, their harvesting can often kill periwinkles which are gastropods, not bivalves

who's.the real nazi now

@Meguca @eris @alex that's when you harvest from wild hives, there's genuinely no reason to think accidental bee death from harvesting farmed honey is significant enough to warrant not eating honey especially if you eat vegetables cultivated and harvested amidst insect and snail violence, it just becomes so arbitrary

@Meguca @eris @alex ohhhh i see, yeah this is what i thought alex was going for. the point about root vegetables still stands though. its possible to minimize the death in both contexts and its all about where each person draws the line.
