@georgia our soup has more stuff in it, which is the main attraction. The spoon is for scooping the chunks out. Asian spoons are for broth, but that's boring and we don't mind leaving some behind.

@georgia metal spoons are absolutely terrible for soup consumption, yes put hot liquid on metal great way to burn your lips / mouth. Also the spoon is too shallow to get very much anyway so you end up eating all the chucky bits and then have a bowl full of broth – and get this, drinking directly from the bowl is seen as uncouthed in old time uptight contexts, absurd.
