@druid we had block reasons like "transphobia, homophobia and antisemitism" which is hilarious considering our userbase is trans people, meso (gayest man alive) and georgia (jewish). ig we all really hate ourselves or whatever they think this is about.

@lucy @georgia But that's how Judaism perpetuates its tribal loyalty: it teaches you that the religion IS the race, which is nonsense, religion is a choice

@druid @georgia in a separated way it makes sense given a top-level culture is often carried by a religion and carried on even with the spiritual connection lost. like christmas is all about shopping. anyway please don't spam in this thread my notifications are overflowing rn it's actually hard to type this out.

@wowaname @eemmaa @lucy @maija I mean yes that does seem to be the obvious solution - to START a religion designed to jailbreak people from this shitty little hell - and that's indeed what I was planning on for a while.

But I don't think that's going to work. I don't think that can get through. Not the usual way. Any new religion is a cult, and any religion that calls out Abrahamism for what it is (with the hilarious exception of Islamic antisemitism, which everyone gives a pass to lmao) gets called a hate group.

@wowaname @eemmaa @lucy @maija Do you really think the average person gets a choice?

Joe was reaised a Christian. Joe was scared of going to Hell, and didn't like going to Church. Joe didn't like being told to love Jesus more than his family. So Joe became an Atheist, and was an Atheist for his entire life. He regularly told people that religion was a scam, and when it DID cross his thoughts, his mind was full of hatred.

So what happens to Joe when he dies, exactly? What happens when he gets that nice big squirt of DMT to prepare him for the hereafter? I don't think the flying spaghetti monster and Neil Degrasse Tyson are going to answer him. In fact, I think he's going to see a light and feel drawn into it, and he's not going to have a single chance to determine whether he's experiencing real karmic passage, or the "Maw that Swallows Death" of which Yahwists are so proud.

@wowaname @eemmaa @lucy @maija It’s the same if he was a LARPagan btw, my point is that you can’t decide what to believe. Religion is a choice, but it’s a choice of allegiance: belief is subconsciously rooted, and I would argue that a person’s best chance of changing it is through ritualization.

@wowaname @eemmaa @lucy @maija We can’t know where the dead are, we can only know where the living believe they’re going. That’s what I want to change.

@eemmaa @wowaname @lucy @maija

We should aim to be like them, because we are them.

Yes, I agree completely. Humans and gods are a mirror facing a mirror.

become god and dispose of the old god.

You only believe this is necessary because you fell for the YHVH=God psyop though. That being is just a little flea in the cosmic scale, an ascended human sorcerer with a bag of cheap tricks from Mesopotamian and Egyptian tradition. It’s just a guy, just a fucking man standing in the way when you try to look at God.

If I call it “Brahman,” what then? Should we “kill Brahman?” “Replace Brahman?” The idea is laughable. It’s like trying to fight the ocean.

And that’s what I’m getting at. In a sense Opal is exactly right, all of this is a waste of time that we subject ourselves to. I escaped it, and I’m open about that, and now I want to help others escape it too. But inevitably, others are either totally unbothered by it all in the first place (in which case they don’t need help) or so deep in the psyop that they’ll do what you’re doing here: argue for the evil of “God” in respectful, devotional, admirational terms. It really is like a worm.

@eemmaa @wowaname @lucy @maija Yes, I'm absolutely more focused on that. "The character of Jesus" is a good way to put it.

I've never been the one arguing for religious legitimacy here. I don't think you will find many sects arguing what I've been saying either.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick here. I'm not trying to deboonk what you're saying, that's something Christians do when they argue with each other. I'm saying that the world is enormous and this filthy little corner of it is ultimately unimportant, but that so long as you remain attached to the character of Jesus in this way, he will keep pulling you back here and demanding that you reconcile this.

@eemmaa @wowaname @lucy @maija I only invented him to argue the case that our "true religion" is in the subconscious, but if you want to ask about him as an everyman of red-blooded American Christianity then of course he's not deposing of Yahweh, he's openly submitting to him. (I don't call Yahweh "God" since it isn't God.)

>is deposing of god a physical task or a mental task?

Mental, and it's supposed to be a routine one. The Bhagavad Gita talks about it, for example: The existing image of God (Ishvara) is shattered, and a new one takes its place, formed from the higher self. (Krishna's higher self is a form of Vishnu, for example, hence his fully manifest Ishvara is a "Vishvarupa") For (devout and actually practicing) Hindus it's all part of growing up, your half-formed image of whichever deity your parents were most avid about is displaced by your own personal revelation of God.

In Dharmic society it should rightly be as easy as taking religious life seriously, but Yahweh has become quite the demon and he clings. The entire Gnostic quest is about escaping his bubble.

@wowaname @eemmaa @lucy @maija The base hexagram is an elementary glyph for magical invocation, which is why "King Solomon" claimed it for himself. It's only when you put all that shit all over it that it becomes pozzed.

@eemmaa @wowaname @lucy @maija That's not true, symbols aren't just arbitrary and interchangeable. That's a ludicrous thing to argue! >I can use Ninja Turtles Can you? Can you *really*? Have you tried doing chaos magic before? If so then you've probably run into the difficulty of forcing yourself to believe in arbitrary things. You were sacrificed to this egregore when you were born. So was I. This was a curse.
