Why is buying (choosing at a physical store) feminine clothes that look gender neutral so hard? neocat_shocked_googly_woozy

@cinnamon because "feminine clothes" and "gender neutral" are exclusionary? or wdym

@lucy Not necessarily. I have an woman overall that I would consider gender neutral, so I was expecting to find “something” to have as an alternative. I wanted to approach the gender neutral style from the woman side of the shop, instead of from the man side of the shop, but it’s difficult when it’s “the wrong time of the year” (eg: I see lots of girls with cargo jeans… bought some months ago, when they were a trend. Now those aren’t available anywhere anymore)

@cinnamon
Honestly one of the reasons I am learning to sew is because I can't buy what I want

@lucy @eemmaa That’s it! That’s why I said that I wanted to approach neutrality from the woman side of the shop blobcatwink

A neutral piece of cloth with woman cut “says something”, but only if you want/know how to interpret it.

@eemmaa @cinnamon there's like 17 different cuts and only 2 of them are gender neutral, maybe 3 depending on the area you live in

@eemmaa @cinnamon then why when you buy a "T-SHIRT" online you can select much more than those 2 cuts?

@lucy @eemmaa @cinnamon in america the most common shirts are "men" and "women" for generic tshirt purchases. There are obviously more cuts but there are two standards.

– Round two: Mission accomplished –

Different day, different mood, different shops… and I found a pair of trousers and a coat (both from the woman part of the shop) that I liked enough. Yay! blobcathappy

(Saved by the bell for having decent clothes to enjoy 38c3 in the way I would like)

@cinnamon so the thing that girls trousers don't have pockets is not true anymore akko_yay

@Suguivy If you consider that these kind of trousers aren’t very common nowadays… the say still applies. Skirts, on the other hand, are a nightmare (or, when seen from a different perspective, are the perfect excuse to need a purse blobcatgiggle2)

@cinnamon well a purse is great, i even prefer it to trouser pockets because you can store a lot of things there and don't need to move them to another piece of clothing

I have a chest pack which is a bit smaller than a purse, but I can perfectly save there my ereader so whenever I go to the public transport I take out my ereader and read meowOwoHappy
