We got a 386 when I was about 3 or 4, with 1 floppy drive (5¼") so I had to learn to load DOS then swap out the disk for the games I wanted to play. We had Joust and DigDug. When I was a bit older (and had a hdd) I learned to program by modifying the parameters of the pre-packaged qbasic games, snake and the one with the gorillas throwing bananas at each other.
opening people’s disk trays randomlyah yes, in highschool I created a cursed USB drive which autorun installed a script that does the random disk tray opening and registered it as a startup item.
speakers included of course. They never fixed that, most teachers didn't even understand what's happening and the "administrator" was some elderly teacher who knew how to print a pdf and therefore got entrusted with the school's computer infrastructure.
