@georgia Physical media does not matter. What matters is DRM unencumbered data. Physical media can still be tied to a central server. Some physical media do not even contain the media and just hold a fancy download app.

@georgia Yes, but it's not even needed. In a better world you could download data and store it however you want. Let's say a band could sell its albums on a site hosting various bands, one the marketing expert might name Jam Bazaar. Similarly, a scrappy independent games development studio consisting of a programmer and a graphicstian could sell its executables on a site that would have been called… oh iuno, maybe Dear Honest Toys or even Rub, for no particular reason.

@georgia Proprietary physical mediums are inferior to free formats - as you have the freedom to easily copy them on your computer, or burn them onto physical medium as needed.

@kakafarm @georgia I once bought a roller coaster tycoon world disk for very cheap because it sucked and all it did was install steam and tell you to enter the game code in the disk to add it to your library
