We're around the same age, so that makes sense. I was also pretty hardcore about FOSS around that age.

A few friends of mine recommended Vintage Story, but they've already all abandoned it before I ever got a chance to play it with them

It's a minecraft inspired game, apparently started as a minecraft mod that spun off into its one separate game in a new engine. much more survival oriented, much slower pace of progression. from what ive played it feels like a tedium simulator. has a few cool ideas but seems more interested in making the player spend hours doing menial chores like holding m1 while sitting in a puddle for two hours to pan for ore rather than allowing them to actually play the game.

original mode (creative lol), remember when multiplayer was some awful jank, tekkit... been there since the beginning really. factorio too.
every so rarely get to experience a facsimile of having internet friends and play it again. they kinda screwed up the server and got mad at them though (they deleted all the item entities which broke all the create elevators and shit.)
