Got reminded of some deeply cursed and unfortunate parts of my personal history, ask me anything to take my mind off of it

Relatedly, what's the retrospring equivalent these days?

@georgia FreeBSD if you want ersatz-Linux, NetBSD if you want the legitimate continuation of CSRG BSD, OpenBSD if you want a modern day SunOS 4.x with security autism, Dragonfly BSD if you're a jaded former Amiga user with HPC interests, macOS if you're too normal to understand what any of these mean.

@allison what extraterrestrial planet do you think humans will visit first?

@genmaicha mars, without a doubt. it could have been a tossup with venus before the 1970s, but the fate of the venera probes confirmed venus being a totally inhospitable hellscape so by simple elimination mars is the only option left.

@grillchen @georgia not *common* necessarily, but I think most english speakers (particularly more literate ones) will understand it if they hear it

@vervet plain glazed, I don't have strong opinions on donuts for the most part and as sweets I'm disinclined to eating them

@mac_ack I have not had a good burger in my life ever, so this is an open question and I challenge anyone meeting me IRL to shill me on their preference

@allison Jesus Christ, start with a Bacon Lettuce and Tomato sandwich first. Once you have got that right you can throw in a chicken breast or a hamburger patty. At that point other options like grilled onions, mushrooms, cheese, an egg ect. are places to go next.

@allison @mac_ack you should try making them at home in a cast iron

@mac_ack @bigtony irrelevant advice too, I don't have any cast irons hanging around and also don't know how to cook

@allison @bigtony you don't need to know how to cook. 3 strips of bacon can be put in the mircrowave wrapped in paper towels for 3 minutes. Lettuce does not need expertise, and tomatoes can be cut by novices. All that is needed is to apply mayonnaise to toast and then to combine tomatoes and lettuce + bacon.

@bigtony @allison @mac_ack why bother with a shitty pan that can't even go in the dishwasher when you already have teflon in your blood

@allison @skylar @bigtony Just cut the lettuce and tomatoes by hand then?

@mac_ack @bigtony @allison throw the lettuce in the trash and make a sauce from the tomatoes
