@carolen All but the last paragraph makes sense to me.
Dunno where it is now, but my copy of the canterbury tales had the middle english on one page and the modern on the facing page. Reading it aloud and getting the rhythm of the words just clicked in my head after a couple dozen pages. Speaking it rather than just reading was the key.
Now i just struggle with the proper olde ænglish of Beowulf etc and post modern zoomer slang.
