what's a good translation/ed of the new testament, preferably with gloss/commentary?

@georgia i have always liked king james version but i have heard there may be some issues with that translation. someone mentioned an alternate english translation from around that time but i can't recall the name of it

@georgia ESV study bible seems cute. ESV is also bestselling translation afaik

@georgia uhhhhhhhhh idk about a good one with conventional commentary but the notes in the DBH new testament are really really interesting

@kaia @georgia i have really mixed feelings about the esv. it’s a derivation of the rsv created by evangelicals who thought the nrsv is woke and they changed some stuff to make it better align with their theology of gender. i actually do like the way the language flows in it despite issues with its creation.
