@lanodan Sorry to break it you. But touhou is nearly 30 years old. Not 20.
@lanodan There had to be. There were already fanworks in the PC-98 era and there was also 2channel. It was probably very niche and we’ve never seen it because it would’ve been Japanese only at the time. I mean Touhou only for popular in the west during the Windows era.
@lanodan I refuse to believe that not a single IRC channel or message board at any point before 2000 had some sort of inside joke about touhou ever. I assume it just hasn’t been re-surfaced.
@lanodan It could also be lost to time and not resurfaceable.
And then you’re also gonna go into awful the discussion of what counts as a “meme”. Does it need to be online? How much need to know about it? etc.
@lanodan Well many of the songs still being parodied today come from the PC98, such as Bad Apple.
@lanodan Yeah but the original midi comes from the PC98, so doesn’t that count as the true origin year? It only became a 2007 because people were already familiar with its melody from having played the games.
@lanodan I would agree it does, it was just not called that back then. While Bad Apple was still called Bad Apple.
@lanodan Also I did know Steins;Gate was the reason why “Nurupo” got resurfaced.
Steins;Gate is probably a more brilliant series than I thought it was…
@SuperDicq That file doesn't seems to not be streamable, ffmpeg -i $in -codec copy remilia_trash.mp4 seems to be good enough to fix it.
@lanodan Oh yeah that Yuyuko dashcam car crash is an insane video.
It is actual recorded dashcam footage from a truck crashing into a parked car with the dekafumo inside of it.
Very sad to have your car crashed like that, but then again I would totally upload that to the internet.
@lanodan Assuming insurance covers the damage, having this legendary video footage is totally worth the effort, right?
@lanodan Still video should still serve as clear evidence for the insurance company. It is very clear that the car was parked and the truck is at fault.
@Suiseiseki @lanodan A truck flipping over is not an act of god, that is clearly the truck driver’s fault.
