kinda funny how part of christology is that God as jesus took on humanity and thus made humanity sacred but jesus personally followed jewish law and no christian argues that he made the law holy and thus binding on christians

I'm ambivalent about jewish law and jesus defied it in some ways like dietary law and stoning of course but this just made me think

@georgia they thought he was a heretic for a variety of reasons. they knew reforming the jewish law was a threat. his teachings establish a direct relationship between you and God

@georgia i mean He kinda did make it holy is the thing but holiness and bindingness arent the same thing at unless you think it is binding to perform miracles

@lizzie I would say it is binding to do good to your ability, so people who can perform miracles should do them

@georgia this is true and honestly id argue that all good is a miracle in which case its super binding. in terms of visible signs no that is not universally binding but it is holy. you can always generalize an activity to something that is binding, but if you reduce it to particularities then it becomes nonsense to make it binding. the point is that everyone is bound to honor God. it is not universally binding to do so particularly through the jewish law as it is not binding to do so particularly through visible signs.

there are cases where it should be done however which is why paul had a man get circumcised
