I will be honest with you since you are letting me figure out something that's been bothering me for months on your instance -- i don't like olives at all. not green, not black none of them. I was given them as a child and I think because I had been only subjected to tomatoes via like pasta sauces, some easy salads with lettuce, carrot, stuff like that that eventually when I was introduced to other foods later in my childhood I had developed a distaste for them. since I've gotten older I like tomatoes a lot more, I like more peppers which I would refuse to eat, my ex got me to like onion that wasn't like deep fried or green/shallot.

@graf @badneighbor my mom is obsessed with olives and puts too much of them on pizzas and in salads so you think I'd hate them but about the black ones I'm ambivalent and I like the green

I'm weird though, I'm one of those people that actually likes cilantro. but for example do not put mushrooms in anything (magic ones are fine if I know that's what I'm eating) or like I *cannot* at eggs. if they are fried in rice, or they are fried in another dish, or baked in a dish I'm fine but I cannot eat egg on its own no matter which way it's prepared or I will legitimately projectile vomit. I think it's something mental with eating the egg, maybe. I thought it would be the texture but I can eat fried rice or something like singapore noodles (which I fucking love and they'e full of egg) but I think it might be like a mental "this is an egg" thing

I can tolerate black sometimes but otherwise not a fan. But dice them up and I'm there with bells on.

@graf @badneighbor that is so strange. I dont like egg yoke unless is totally runny, but I love the white. my dad used to vomit whenever he ate chopped liver which is kinda funny because were jews.

I've never been able to stomach liver, the smell and taste of iron has never sat well with me. it's weird because I will take my steaks or most meat medium rare or rare. I understand it's not the same but in most minds it's more or less the same. I just, there's no way I could eat liver. No kidney, no heart, nothing like that. No organ meat but I will eat any other cut of beef, chicken. I can't do fish, something about the smell even when cooked just puts me way off. I'm a super weird eater, you don't ever want to cook for me fr

actually this isnt fully true -- my ex's mom makes a finnish meat pie called lihapiirakka, it's basically like raw beef with diced onion and mixed spices formed into kind of like a big dough pierogi almost, it's crecent shaped, then they deep fry them. I was at her house maybe 3-4 weeks ago and she was making it and she said "Daniel come here, try this" and I totally forgot it was raw meat so I like stuck my finger in it and ate some and it was unironically fantastic. so maybe I like tartare now??

nooooooo I was at a restaurant called voyager, its in a suburb of detroit and somebody I was with ordered tuna tartare and I thought okay it cant be that bad because the odd time I will eat a tuna salad sandwich right? no that was the saltiest fucking thing I have ever put in my mouth

@graf
Does she use the deep-freeze method to kill parasites?

The weirdest thing I used to do as a kid was microwave hot dogs and put salad dressing on them. Could be ranch, caesar whatever didnt matter. Thoughts on that?

I know its high quality beef, I am not sure the process prior to it as I was transient in her house just stopping in to visit her and her girls and have a drink or two because she asked me to come over. I will ask the next time she texts but I know they are good in the fridge about a week or frozen for several weeks. I reheat the ones she gives me in the air fryer and dont tell her but the crisp the air fryer gives the outside after being deep fried (its kind of like donut dough if that makes sense) is sooooooooo great

I could do that today, except for years microwaves would mangle hotdogs with radiation burns. Placed in a plate of water they come out fine and any of those will do for toppings

you can actually get away with putting a cup of water in and putting a paper towel over the hot dog if you have an old-old ass microwave. Learned that about 30 years ago and I never forgot it. Cup of water and a paper towel always. if you needed to make sure it absolutely was not going to dry out you would take the paper towel and fold it in half and dampen it just slightly

My stepbrother used to eat frozen hotdogs when he was a kid. I have never let him forget.

all of the friends I lived with in NYC moved back to their countries (canada) or states (kentucky, tennessee and I think the other guy was from NC) I had to move back home too because rent in that area of NYC where we lived was like 2800$ and that was back in the 2006-2007 era. The only friend I had at the time that had space where I could crash was a guy in Sudbury, Ontario so I boarded a bus and headed there from NY. That guy, the front half of his house was his, but it was his grandmas, the back half was like, walled off into a separate house and she would come over every other day and restock his fridge. All he ever ate was chicken hot dogs. and he would eat them right out of the package. Nothing else. I guarantee you that guy has probably killed somebody by now

I've never had a chicken hotdog and pray I never will. I'll stick with my unidentifiable mystery "meat" thank you, like a real red blooded American.

your instance doesn't have a fix in place for it yet. the current implementation fetches the total votes from the remote instance which should, in theory, have all the votes. but her instance isn't registering a lot from poast, which is what I'm trying to figure out

Thanks again for all you do. I told myself 3 years ago I would get familiar with the code, and set up my own little instance. But I haven't...

As soon as Eric (crunchbits owner) gives me the go ahead I'm implementing an API to deploy custom scaling VMs and you will be able to choose your front end and stuff.
