lemme be real I hate philosophies that say God needed to manifest in some way to "know Himself". God is all-knowing. God is already completely self-satisfied (which is why He so often involutes), but She creates out of lila. pure joy in being is what motivated God to want to be limited and discrete things!

@georgia what if god was one of us? Just a slob like one of us? Just a stranger on the bus trying to make his way home?

@georgia Useless reply but I'll say it anyway: It depends what they mean.

@georgia If they're saying that knowing oneself was a potential that was acted on due to lack, it makes no sense, but if it means being is the eternal act of self knowing and the time statement isn't literal then it seems fine, though I tend to think that kind of statement is heady and lame. Not a useful way to think about anything, just sound nice when you're high.

this is honestly one of my biggest gripes with these kinds of philosophies. whatever motive there is behind this choice, it isn't the all wanting to know itself, because it already knows itself.
