@cell it’s ironic but asahi seems to have better graphics drivers than macOS

it’s also just way faster overall

@hj @georgia @cell the one thing i will give apple credit for is that macOS and iOS were the first, respectively, with working compositors

that’s why it felt so much more polished than windows at the time, and why the first iphone absolutely mogged all the other smartphones that were on symbian or maemo with its x11 stack.
they were struggling manage UI at 20 fps and had all kinds of hacks to try and mask flickering, and there came this thing that maintained constant 60 fps and never flickered

@georgia @hj @cell ignoring web browsers the first jolla phone could keep 30+ native apps open with not a single one getting suspended/killed, and it did that with 1 GB RAM

SFOS isn’t even well-optimized. android just sucks ass

@cell I have had 0 experience with macos until a few days ago and im kind of liking it

I thought I'd be eagerly counting down the days until asahi supported my laptop but honestly so far, using the laptop has had the opposite effect: I dont see the point in installing asahi in the first place

@cell The main issue of the hardware is compatibility of parts/repair.
