Baptizing babies as a way to claim them is creepy. At least growing up Christian I wasn't baptized against my will, it was something reserved for youth who made that decision around their teens or early adulthood.

@subnetter @luce-anon @anemone @georgia Baptism only claims ownership of a person if you believe it does. I wanted to do a formal defection for a time, but even doing that reaffirms the superstitions of the church.

@georgia The Catholic Church has never formally taught that baptized babies go to hell. The most harsh view that some older theologians taught was that their MIGHT have existed some kind of "limbo" area they went to, but that was never really official Church teaching. Basically no normal Catholic believes unbaptized babies go to hell.

@subnetter @anemone @georgia I have literally never heard anybody say anything about the pope not properly blessing the world leading to the Russian Ukraine war. That's most likely just some crazy ultra trad-catholic slop that the church and any normal priest would never actually teach.
