@OneRatOneVerySmallTrenchCoat for some reason I am naturally resistant to the idea of ever being involved in any communities that I haven't DIYed myself and also have an extremely idiosyncratic perspective on "religion" or "spirituality" or whatever, and like, I also wouldn't even necessarily describe myself as being ideologically a gnostic or something, but it's also had a persistent influence on me in spite of that and is probably the surviving lineage of revealed knowledge that is closest to what I practice.

@winterklaus @OneRatOneVerySmallTrenchCoat @nyx you have to go to the oldest texts as well as the current living traditions like creideamh sí, and even then taking personal intuition into account, as well as historical context -- particularly the fact that gaelic paganism is arguably the least "indo-europeanized" of the indigenous european traditions.

@winterklaus @OneRatOneVerySmallTrenchCoat @nyx like particularly, i would contend that what is typically referred to as "gaelic paganism" is actually a largely if not entirely pre-celtic system. few know this for some reason but sites like Stonehenge and Brú na Bóinne were constructed before the indo-europeans even reached western europe, let alone the british isles.
