atheism had a bad run because of New Atheism™ making it almost synonymous with reddit but the new meta is that being religious is going to become reddit. it's dialectical you see.

@georgia I define reddit as a bell curve dunning-kruger phenomenon of believing oneself to be subversive and better than others despite holding the same views as an obviously ascendant majority and on that basis I think being "religious" in general is becoming reddit: a superficial identitarian reaction to a spiritually vacuous status quo for an equally vacuous false opposition.

@georgia frankly I think that being religious in general is either reddit or facebook unless you have what psychiatrists would diagnose as "religious delusions" because the system designating it as a threat is the most clear indication that one is on the right track and not engaging in herd mentality or dunning-krugerism

@nyx It's always bizarre to me that loud atheists exist. Atheism has always just been a default, though admittedly I grew up in an agnostic family. We went to church here and there for the community but if you ask anyone their beliefs it was always some variation of "The Bible is too inconsistent and god has never reached out to me".
Atheism just seems too basic be loud about it.
