@georgia any thoughts on people who get ai to do tarot readings for them? like, use one of those random tarot card generators to get a few cards, then feed that into an ai to have it read them?

@georgia because personally i feel some visceral disgust towards that and get the vibe that it's spiritually harmful in ways I can't fully express. like figure out what the spread means yourself, don't just feed it into an ai and expect to find meaning, you know? a friend does that sometimes and insists they get good readings and I just feel like it's a bad idea.

@Starlight I completely agree that its spiritually negative. AI should not draw nor interpret tarot readings, which rely on the intuition of a conscious living being. the only acceptable use of an AI would be "chatgpt what does the two of pentacles mean" and it summarizes the browser results. its far from ideal though.

@georgia Yeah, honestly I'm a bit iffy on letting a computer even draw a card for me. There's something special about having a human pick a card, some level of intuition unique to beings with some spark of the divine that I feel a random number generator just can't replicate.

@Starlight ultimately God controls both the computer and the cards so it's not impossible for either to be correct. ive gotten accurate readings from online card pullers but theyre seldom as revelatory and trenchant as a physical card reading. I would only let a traditional algorithm do it though, not an LLM. I genuinely think AI is going to become a hugely deleterious societal ill and I just dont want that mixed with the numinous.
