@genmaicha the fishing industry is quite rapacious and farmed fish has other ethical problems. however my favorite seafood is environmentally friendly (oysters).

@genmaicha @georgia Fishing repulses me though. Fish seem so alien compared to mammals and seeing them ripped from their water world dangling from a hook I can't imagine the stress that creature must be suffering. Fishing is too cruel. There is no merciful way to catch fish.

Isn't most of the horsemeat consumed in Japan sourced from Ban'ei horses that are too old to race? I wouldn't imagine that old draft horse would be very delicious.

@joey @genmaicha I dont eat cephalopods or any other highly intelligent seafood and I intend to no longer eat seafood that was boiled alive. I mostly just have salmon and various bivalves. but youre right they are thinking feeling creatures (though bivalves probably arent, they lack a CNS).
