I remember reading, this is probably back in 6th edition, that terminator armor was invented in the dark age of technology so that workers could submerge themselves in an active plasma field hotter than the inside of a star. WH40k brought it back which was a huge improvement. Orkz and goblins and even their livestock are all part of the same fungoid-like species gested from spores in the ground. Every time an Ork dies, they release trillions of spores, so warfighting is basically sexual reproduction and the more they fight the more spores will gestate and grow. Sword and sorcery artists were absolutely SLEEPING on this goldmine of worldbuilding. Tolkein knew what was up.
