@icedquinn@blob.cat @georgia@netzsphaere.xyz saipan seemed more economically depressed than the usa avg though I'm sure their are parts of the continental US that are much more economically depressed than saipan

@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz @icedquinn@blob.cat from a purely environmental perspective I'd want to live in new Caledonia, but it's politically unstable and also,, french

@icedquinn @anemone you'd be surprised I have had that happen to me too. some volunteer places are pickier than toilsome jobs are.

@anemone @icedquinn
bringing dogs or cats here is thousands of dollars and a months-long approval process of vaccinations and titer tests and quarantine

but the dogs in the park are free. you can just go out and pick them up. i have 6 dogs in my house right now

@georgia @anemone That's not even the bigger problem of the place. Let's say you find work, local laws mean you cannot own land and will therefore be forever servitorial class feeding the rent grift. The only profile that could actually justify going there for a long period of time is military or fed personnel on a well paid assignment, to whom people will generally just fold regardless of citizenship or whatever else. If you're not either military or a fed or maybe some high end blue collar like a professional welder that can do boat repair, you'll likely end up some sort of maid or dogwalker or any other activity generally considered undignified for white hands.
